Toyota Material Handling Europe is exploring the opportunities solar power could have on its operations as it joins forces with Eneo Solutions. With an ambition to develop solutions that can be integrated into the OEM’s electric forklifts and its lithium-ion batteries, the program is seen as an important step in TMHE relying on 100% renewable energy by 2020 and zero carbon emissions across its full product range by 2050. In a major new development for the sector, a Level 3 Lift Truck and Powered Access Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard and end point assessment (EPA) have been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. The 36-month course will be recognised by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (I/MechE), the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). Kalmar To Launch New Li-Ion Forklift

Kalmar will introduce a medium electric forklift powered by lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery technology. The new forklift is the latest step on the company's journey towards offering an electric version of every product in its portfolio by 2021. It is the first forklift in the medium-capacity range to be powered by Li-ion batteries, and the battery technology will initially be available for several models with a wheelbase of 3,500 mm. Morris Leslie Plant Hire has placed a £36m order for more than 500 Loadall telehandlers with dealer Scot JCB. JCB said that it was the biggest ever single order for telehandlers that it had ever taken. The 555 Loadalls to be delivered range from the compact six-metre 525-60 up to the 20-metre 540-200. The machines will be built at JCB World Headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire.
