Bobcat expands telehandler range

Bobcat expands telehandler range

New Trucks
Bobcat is expanding its telehandler range with the addition of two new machines. Now offering a choice of 13 rigid frame models for applications in construction, rental, recycling, waste and general industry, the TL43.80HF and TL30.70 ensure the maximum lifting capacities cover 2.6 and 4.3 metric tons with lifting heights from 6 to 18m. The high performance TL43.80HF combines a maximum lift height of 8m and the maximum lift capacity of the range. Due to the box welded frame, a low load centre, the long wheelbase and the new large rear counterweight, the new machine has very high stability and enabled Bobcat engineers to reduce the overall dimensions to a width of only 2.3m and less than 5m long. With a turning radius of 3.71m, the telehandler is powered by a Bobcat 130hp en...

A-Plant’s profits fall 11%

A-Plant’s profits fall 11%

Business, Finance
Hire company A-Plant has suffered a dip in profits in the past year on marginal growth in revenues. For the year ended 30th April 2019, A-Plant made an operating profit of £62.3m, down 11% on the previous year’s £70.2m. Revenue was up 0.7% to £475.1m (2018: £471.7m). Its operating margin therefore declined from 14.9% to 13.1%. This was attributed to “the higher depreciation charge of a larger average fleet”. A-Plant generated rental-only revenue of £357m, up 4% on the prior year (2018: £344m).  This was driven by increased fleet on rent with a 1% improvement in yield, mainly due to product mix. A-Plant’s parent company, Ashtead – although British – does most of its business in North America, through the much larger and more profitable Sunbelt equipment rental operations. ...

Users of Selwood Smart QR can see health and safety, records, service information, daily maintenance checks, inspection documents and other reference information simply by scanning codes on the equipment. Selwood believes that the system could be especially helpful for contractors on large sites who need to keep track of multiple machines. Cannon jumps in for micro Genies

Access
Essex-based Cannon Access has taken delivery of six new electric Genie GS-1330m scissor lifts. Cannon Access is the first UK customer for this emissions-free machine, launched at the 2019 Bauma trade show in Munich in April. Marketed as a ‘micro-sized’ machine, the Genie GS-1330m is 1.4 metres long and 78cm wide, with a raised platform height of 3.9 metres (12 ft 8 in). Director Tom Cannon said: “We decided to pre-order a batch of Genie GS-1330m scissor lifts the second we saw the model announcement. For years, the industry standard has been to use six-metre (19 ft) scissor lifts, even if the customer is only working at half that height. And whilst this is not an issue, it is great to see a leading manufacturer producing a smaller conventional machine that will fill in the gap...
