Toyota keeps Top Spot.

Featured, Industry, Manufacturer
There has been little change in the Top 10 forklift manufacturers list for 2019/20. A report by German magazine DHF shows Toyota still at the top of the ranking, with 26.82% of the global market. KION remains in second place, with 14.59%, followed by Jungheinrich with 9.28%. The minor changes in the ranking include Manitou and Kalmar, seventh and eighth, respectively, which switched positions from last year. Similarly, Clark and Doosan (11th and 12th) have traded places in the latest listing. According to analysis by report author Jurgen Warmbold, incoming orders for the 2019 year dropped from 1,537,979 (2018) to 1,506,876 units - the first drop after six years of growth. For Europe, WITS has reported a decrease of 33,512 to 490,551 industrial truck orders, with...

Toyota exploring solar power opportunities

Innovation
Toyota Material Handling Europe is exploring the opportunities solar power could have on its operations as it joins forces with Eneo Solutions. With an ambition to develop solutions that can be integrated into the OEM’s electric forklifts and its lithium-ion batteries, the program is seen as an important step in TMHE relying on 100% renewable energy by 2020 and zero carbon emissions across its full product range by 2050. As a first step, rooftop solar power systems will be installed at the company’s production and management facilities in five countries – including its headquarters in Mjölby, Sweden – this year. Under the programme, the company’s module-based Li-ion batteries will be given a third life as cost-efficient, stationary storage for solar energy, enabling electric tru...

Improved Pedestrian Pallet Trucks and Stackers from Toyota

Handling, Manufacturer, New Trucks
Toyota has added features to its BT Levio & BT Staxio pedestrian W-models, which it says offer even more fit for (un)loading, stacking and horizontal transport in confined areas. The stackers can be equipped with low-noise hydraulics as option, for a lower noise level. This makes these trucks ideal for working in noise-sensitive and quiet environments such as supermarkets, shops and on-board lorries during night-time deliveries. The BT Staxio W-series is now also available with a weight indicator that displays an estimation of the load weight on the forks. This prevents the lifting of too heavy loads, as well as overloading lorries, elevators and loading docks. The BT Staxio SWE080L-140L stackers with initial lift can transport two pallet loads at the same time (one on the su...

Toyota Material Handling to the rescue with donation of forklift truck

The donation came about following a conversation between Mark Johnson, a Firefighter at the Station and Chris Pole, Toyota’s National Parts Manager, who is based at the adjacent Toyota Business Centre in Meridian Business Park. Chris Pole explains: “Mark and I are good friends and in passing conversation it was clear that Toyota manufacture and supply forklift trucks which are much safer, efficient and overall far better suited to the needs of the...
