Linde Material Handling Develops Interactive Warning Vest

Innovation
Linde Material Handling has developed an interactive warning vest. The vest protects pedestrians in warehouse and production environments by alerting them early on to approaching industrial trucks. The intelligent garment with a tactile, audible and widely visible warning function is a further development of the Linde Safety Guard system and helps to prevent collisions between forklifts and pedestrians. Every logistics operator will be familiar with this situation: Walking along an aisle of shelves, lost in thought, sometimes it is only at the last moment that you notice a forklift truck or other warehouse equipment in the immediate vicinity. A dangerous situation which can have serious consequences. Statistics issued by the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) confirm this: Peop...

Linde Material Handling Expands Lithium-ion Portfolio

Batteries, Manufacturer
Linde Material Handling is expanding its lithium-ion battery portfolio. For trucks in the load capacity range from 2 to 3.5 tons (Linde E20 to E35), the existing 24.1 kWh and 60.3 kWh battery versions have been complemented by a larger variant with 84.6 kWh capacity, which is designed for energy-intensive three-shift applications found in the paper and beverage industries, for example. A new medium-capacity battery has been added for industrial trucks in the load capacity range between 3.5 and 5 tons. Here, Linde Material Handling closes the gap between the smaller (36.2 kWh) and the larger (118.4 kWh) battery with a 66.3 kWh battery. Last but not least, a second battery size of 64.7 kWh is now available for the 6-8 ton forklift trucks as a supplement to the existing 118.4 kWh batte...

Linde expands fuel cell truck range

Innovation
Linde Material Handling is expanding its fuel cell truck portfolio with the launch of a tow tractor. Making its debut at Inter Airport Europe, the P250 is a rapid refuelling, efficient and emission-free machine with 25 tons of tractive force. With fuel cell technology becoming increasingly a promising energy solution, the OEM is seeking to tap more of this growing market. Having begun working on the alternative energy source 20 years ago, the first units from the firm went in to series production in 2010. Now, with 80% of its models available with the power source, Linde claims to offer the largest product range on the market – with pallet trucks, reach trucks and counterbalance trucks all included in this group. A special highlight at the Inter Airport Europe exhibition, taki

Updated Low-Level Order Pickers from Linde

New Trucks
Linde Material Handling is renewing its order-picking truck range, claiming the most comprehensive product portfolio in the industry. Eight new models of the Linde N20 C low-level order picker are the first to be launched. They ensure comfortable, safe and above all cost-efficient order picking in the load range between 1.2 and 2.5 tons. From home improvement stores to food wholesalers, from the automotive industry to contract logistics, the picking of goods is a core task in every warehouse. It’s also a very cost-intensive one, due to the high proportion of manual activities involved. Linde says it has attached particular importance to user support when developing its new trucks: Even the standard versions of these order pickers, which can reach speeds of up to 14 km/h, offer a hig

Linde serves more than 50,000 UK customers each year including the supply of trucks and equipment made in manufacturing bases across Europe and operates from 20 sales and service centres around the UK run centrally by its Basingstoke head office. Like many other international suppliers in the industry, Linde is preparing for potential delays at the borders but has a range of solutions for its UK customers. Linde Supply Truck Combines Forklift and Train Benefits

Linde Supply Truck Combines Forklift and Train Benefits

Logistics, New Trucks
The Trolley Supply Truck is a new vehicle concept from Linde Material Handling that the company claims combines all the advantages of a Linde logistics train with those of a forklift. The design is based on Linde’s matrix concept: both the goods transporter’s control unit and drive unit come from the modular system for Linde warehouse equipment. What is completely new, according to Linde, is the load unit which takes the form of a bar trolley with steered wheels. It allows efficiency increases of up to 30 percent to be achieved in material transport to production plants. “Many of our customers have already implemented forklift truck-free production supply via tugger or logistics trains,” explains Ralf Knaut, Project Manager Special Solutions at Linde Material Handling. This is becau

Linde Adds Explosion-Proof Reach Trucks

Manufacturer, New Trucks
Linde Material Handling has added explosion-proof models of its latest generation of high-performance reach trucks in the load capacity range from 1.4 to 2.5 T for ATEX zones 2/22. Like all other explosion-proof trucks from Linde, they are based on standard models and are delivered to the customer ex-works, along with all the necessary certifications and documentation. Maintenance and service are carried out by Linde’s network partners. "At first glance, many users don’t even notice that this is an explosion-protected version," says Elke Karnarski, product manager Ex-proof Trucks at Linde Material Handling. "And that’s exactly what we aim for. Convenience and operation are identical to the standard truck; structural differences only become apparent on closer inspection and

Kion Group plan US expansion to avoid Chinese tariffs

Half of the vehicles that Kion sells in the U.S. comes from China every year. German-based Kion Group is planning to expand its Summerville, South Carolina factory in an attempt to stray away from a 25 percent tariff the U.S. placed on forklifts imported from China. The Wall Street Journal reports that around half of the vehicles that Kion sells in the U.S. comes from China every year. The company operates two forklift manufacturing facilities in the country. “It is worth exploring ways to expand our production in the U.S. to avoid tariffs,” Kion CFO Anke Groth told CFO Journal. The company is also scouting out additional U.S.-based suppliers that could provide parts to its Summerville parts. Several companies have made decisions to expand their U.S. manufacturing footprint

Linde launch Roadster with Fuel Cell Drive

Manufacturer, New Trucks
With its Roadster concept, Linde Material Handling says it has set completely new standards in terms of visibility and safety for industrial trucks. The company is now adding one of the most promising energy systems to the advantages of this unique design: It’s curtain up for the first Linde Roadster with fuel cell drive. It is one of the crucial questions in goods handling: Which drive technology is best suited for the operating conditions of a particular forklift fleet? To find the answer, fleet managers have to take a wide range of factors into account: Are the trucks meant to be used indoors or outdoors, will they operate in single or multi-shift systems, what kind of goods have to be moved, what is the local infrastructure like – and finally, what type of drive is recommendable in
