French manufacturer Manitou has reported a ‘dynamic’ start to the year, with total revenue increasing by 22% to €562 million, compared to the first quarter of 2018. Southern Europe saw particularly strong growth, with revenues in the region growing by 36% compared to the equivalent quarter of the previous year. Breaking it down by company division, the Material Handling and Access Division enjoyed a 23% rise in sales revenue to €397 million, compared to the first quarter of 2018, while the Compact Equipment Products Division saw sales revenues grow by 18% to €84 million. The British Industrial Truck Association (BITA) - the UK trade association for manufacturers and suppliers of fork lift truck and associated components and services – has revealed volumes of forklift trucks sold across the UK increased 2.5% during 2018, to just over 35,000 units. The latest highlights from the BITA market analysis, published exclusively in-full to BITA members, shows that the materials handling sector bucked the predictions of a slowing in GDP to enjoy a stong finish to the year. Aberdeen-based Bear Handling Ltd, which specialises in handling equipment across Scotland and the oil & gas industry and is the Hyundai forklift distributor for the region, has secured a brand-new customer, leading engineering services company, TEXO Group. The company has just taken delivery of four new Hyundai forklift trucks from Bear Handling – two 160D-9 ‘s, which are 16,000kg load capacity diesel machines, a 30D-9E and a 30D-9, which are 3000kg capacity diesel forklifts. The machines are working at TEXO’s purpose-built facility in Westhill, Aberdeen, and the company’s fabrication facilities, at the Port of Dundee providing shipyard fabrication support, warehousing duties, loading, container and module handling. Italian equipment maker Faresin recently presented what it claims to be the world’s first fully electric telescopic handler. Developed on the same chassis as the 6.26 telescopic handler, the electric model overcomes the problems of emissions and noise, "opening the field to a new range of uses (and) interpreting the technological change that is revolutionising mobility as we have known it until today". The new machine is suitable for indoor operation as well as use in densely populated areas. Hubtex to Launch PhoeniX Sideloaders at Ligna 2019

Hubtex has updated its modular development platform for electric multidirectional sideloaders – the largest in the industry – with its new PhoeniX range. The PhoeniX series will gradually replace all vehicles based on the ESTL platform. The first two models, with a load carrying capacity between three and five tonnes, will be demonstrated at Ligna Hannover (27-31 May 2019). Trade fair visitors can head to booth N65, west of Pavilion 33, to see the benefits of the new PhoeniX for themselves.
