Hydrogen fuel may have found a substantial use in powering these industrial machines. Fuel cell technology may be struggling for adoption among consumer vehicles, but it is proving to be quite promising for forklift trucks. These industrial movers are becoming top early adopters of hydrogen fuel cells. This use of hydrogen fuel power proved very promising at Japan’s largest logistics trade show. The hydrogen fuel cell was shown to be one of the top attractions for Toyota Industries. It showed off a new 1.8 tonne forklift as well as a concept airport towing tractor model, each of which are powered by fuel cell technology. This use in forklifts and similar machinery shows that hydrogen fuel has significant potential to take off in these types of vast niche markets. Battery-based ...

Implementing sustainable business strategies across the value chain has never been so urgent, and FLT fleet managers can play a vital role in helping the UK move towards a greener future, in line with the country’s legislative and environmental ambitions. To help the UK meet its lower carbon commitments, a new, renewable fuel has been developed: BioLPG, which is available exclusively from Calor. Building upon the already established benefits of LPG for the FLT industry, BioLPG is chemically identical to conventional LPG but created from renewable, ethically sourced feedstocks, such as organic plant materials, vegetable oil and animal fats. This means it is a ‘drop-in’ fuel and – as a result – there is no need for you to alter any equipment, appliances or supply infrastructure if you...

After all, the heavy, bright orange truck does stand out from all the splendour around it. But recently, this has become a more familiar sight, as the truck’s driver, Giovanni, works for the Reverendae Fabrica Sancti Petri, the Fabbrica di San Pietro, also known as the Fabric of St Peter’s.
