Linde Scoop Design Award

Linde Scoop Design Award

Euronews, General
Linde Material Handling’s Roadster forklift has scooped a prize in the much-vaunted German Design Awards. An international panel of experts selected the vision-optimized version of the successful electric counterbalance truck series, Linde E20-E35, as one of the 2019 winners in the Utility Vehicles category. The unique vehicle concept, which eliminated the need for the traditional A-pillar, caused a stir in forklift construction when it made its debut in 2016. The overhead tilt cylinders absorb the lifting forces and direct them backwards via the overhead guard frame. Thanks to this creative solution, Linde Roadster drivers enjoy an almost unlimited all-round view, which makes their work not only much easier but also significantly safer. The German Design Awards jury agreed. Prior to...

Crown Factory earns Zero-landfill Status

Industry, Innovation
Crown facility finds ways to recycle everything from coolant to pallets. A lift truck manufacturing plant may not strike anyone as a paragon of sustainability—unless, that is, the plant is run by New Bremen, Ohio-based lift truck maker Crown Equipment Corp. In October, Crown added a sixth location to its roster of facilities that have achieved zero-landfill status. Employees at the company's Troy, Ohio, manufacturing plant led the effort to evaluate the facility's operations for waste-reduction opportunities beginning in 2017, according to Crown. They soon found ways to recycle or reuse a range of waste products, including coolants, used oils, aerosol cans, paint waste, disposable towels, cardboard, and wood pallets. Any remaining waste not reused or recycled is sent to a waste-to-ener...
